What You Need to Know About Accessibility at Vale 194 Luxury Accommodation, McLaren Vale

At Vale 194, we want all guests to enjoy their stay in our luxury accommodation in McLaren Vale. While the property wasn’t specifically designed for full accessibility, this guide highlights the features we offer to help make your visit as comfortable and convenient as possible.

We know how important it is to feel confident and comfortable when booking accommodation, especially when mobility needs are part of your planning. That’s why at Vale 194, we aim to be as transparent as possible so you can make the best decision for your stay.

Please note that Vale 194 is self-catered, so while you’ll enjoy privacy and independence, guests should be prepared to handle day-to-day needs on their own during their stay.

Step-Free Living (with Some Limitations)

While our homes are two-storey, each includes a ground-floor bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, laundry, dining, and lounge area, allowing guests to enjoy a complete stay without needing to use stairs.

There are small level changes at both entrances:

  • Front entrance: approximately 30mm step from the concrete path
  • Rear entrance: approximately 50–60mm step
  • The driveway has a level change between the bitumen of the main driveway and the concrete driveway, which has a rollover/crossover style curbing, not a gradual ramp.
  • Carport widths approximate at narrowest point
    • No. 1 – 3250mm
    • No. 2 – 2900mm
    • No. 3 – 3250mm
    • No. 4 – 3300mm
    • No. 5 – 3000mm
  • Flooring (can be slippery when wet; any spills must be cleaned up immediately):
    • Bathroom tiles are standard residentially rated polished floor tiles, and not highly textured disability rated tiles.
    • The ground floor surface is polished concrete (upstairs there are timber floor boards)
    • The only mat in the property is found in the entrance. There are no floor rugs.
  • Backyards are NOT fully fenced.
  • Vale 194 is a self-catered style of stay and there are no staff located on site.

For many guests with general mobility concerns, this won’t pose an issue, but it’s important to note these details when planning your visit.

PLEASE NOTE: Front door swings opposite direction back against the outside wall.

Not Suitable for Wheelchair Users

Vale 194 is not wheelchair accessible due to the following:

  • Bathrooms do not have grab rails or accessible layout
  • Doorway swing widths do not accommodate standard wheelchairs (particularly evident between the door swinging inwards towards the vanity cupboard)
  • Carport widths do not allow for accessible vehicle entry or safe side access

If you’re a wheelchair user or require fully accessible facilities, we recommend alternative nearby options (listed below).
