Proud Moments: New Business Award and Accreditations for Vale 194 – McLaren Vale Accommodation

We’re so thankful for the support we’ve received from our local community and industry organisations since opening Vale 194. Being recognised through awards and accreditation means a great deal, especially as a small, independent business.

The Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TICSA) has been a fantastic source of professional development, industry training, and guidance throughout our journey. Their support has helped us grow with confidence and continually improve what we do.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association, the McLaren Vale Business & Tourism Association, Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism and the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre for helping us feel connected to our region and supported as part of a vibrant tourism community. The encouragement and training we’ve received, along with the kind words of our guests and neighbours, is what makes working in this industry so rewarding.

We’re so thankful to have been part of this year’s South Australian Tourism Awards, where we were proud to receive the Silver Medal for Self-Contained Accommodation. Preparing our submission encouraged us to pause and appreciate our guests, our region, and the people we work with every day. We’re truly grateful for the support of the organisations and partners who continue to lift South Australian tourism. Sharing this experience with so many passionate businesses from McLaren Vale, the Fleurieu, and across the state has been an honour.

What a thrill to have been nominated by fellow local businesses in McLaren Vale, and an even bigger honour to be awarded the 2024 New Business Award. This recognition means so much, not just for our first year open, but for the years of planning and hard work that went into creating Vale 194.

Quality Tourism Accreditation

We’re proud to share that Vale 194 is now a Quality Tourism Accredited Business, officially recognised by the Tourism Industry Council of South Australia (TiCSA). A huge thanks to the TiCSA team. Working through the process took time and effort behind the scenes, but it was incredibly rewarding and gave us the chance to refine what we do and how we do it.

Sustainable Tourism Accredited Business

Becoming a Sustainable Tourism Accredited Business involved a deep dive into how we operate, from the suppliers we choose to the way we manage waste and energy. The process helped us reflect on what we were already doing well and gave us practical ways to improve, one step at a time.

Tourism Emission Reduction Commitment (TERC)

Working through the Tourism Emissions Reduction Commitment helped us dig deep into where our emissions really come from, not just energy use, but also waste, purchasing, and supply chains. It’s changed the way we think about our day-to-day operations and given us a clear, practical roadmap to keep improving year after year.

Accredited Accommodation – Star Rating

We’re proud to have earned a 4.5-star rating through the nationally recognised Star Ratings program, independently assessed by the Tourism Industry Council of South Australia (TiCSA). This accreditation reflects the consistently high standards we strive for across all five of our holiday houses, from quality facilities to comfort and cleanliness.
