Award-Winning Luxury Accommodation in McLaren Vale
It’s been lovely to see Vale 194 recognised through tourism awards, independent accreditation and, most importantly, the wonderful feedback from guests who have stayed with us.
Since opening our five luxury self-contained holiday houses in the heart of McLaren Vale in 2023, we’ve been fortunate to receive recognition at local, state and national level.
As a small, family-owned business, we’re particularly grateful for the support we’ve received from our guests, our local community and the tourism industry organisations that have helped us along the way.

2026 Star Ratings Australia Gold List Achiever – National Self Catering
Well, this was a lovely surprise!
Vale 194 has been recognised as a 2026 Star Ratings Australia Gold List achiever in the National Self Catering category.
The Gold List celebrates independently Star Rated accommodation properties across Australia that have achieved outstanding traveller ratings based on genuine guest reviews.
With hundreds of reviews across Booking.com, Airbnb, Google and Tripadvisor, this recognition is particularly special to us.
Knowing that so many guests have enjoyed their stays with us in McLaren Vale is wonderful.

Silver Medal – 2025 South Australian Tourism Awards
We were thrilled to receive the Silver Medal in the Self-Contained Accommodation category at the 2025 South Australian Tourism Awards.
Preparing our first awards submission gave us an opportunity to reflect on how far Vale 194 had come since opening, the improvements we’ve made and the people who have supported us.
It was also wonderful to share the occasion with so many passionate tourism businesses from McLaren Vale, the Fleurieu Peninsula and across South Australia.
We’re very grateful to our guests, local partners and the organisations that continue to support and strengthen tourism in our region.

2024 McLaren Vale Business & Tourism Association New Business Award
What a thrill to be nominated by fellow local businesses and an even bigger honour to receive the 2024 New Business Award from the McLaren Vale Business & Tourism Association.
This recognition was especially meaningful because it came from our own community.
Although Vale 194 opened in May 2023, the project had been many years in the making, from planning and designing the houses to building and finally welcoming our first guests.
It was lovely to have that work recognised by the local business community.

Independently Accredited 4.5-Star Self-Catering Accommodation
Vale 194 has achieved a 4.5-star rating in the Self-Catering category through Australia’s nationally recognised Star Ratings program.
This independent accreditation assesses accommodation against established quality standards, helping travellers make informed decisions when choosing where to stay.
For our guests, it provides additional reassurance about the quality, comfort and facilities offered across our five self-contained holiday houses.
Each house has three king bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, living and dining areas and private outdoor entertaining space.

Quality Tourism Accredited Business
We’re proud to be recognised as a Quality Tourism Accredited Business through the Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA).
The accreditation process involves reviewing how we operate, communicate with guests, manage our business and continually improve the accommodation experience.
It takes time and effort behind the scenes, but we’ve found the process incredibly worthwhile.
The training and professional development opportunities available through TiCSA have also been a valuable part of our journey.

Sustainable Tourism Accredited Business
Becoming a Sustainable Tourism Accredited Business encouraged us to take a closer look at how we operate, from our suppliers and purchasing decisions to energy use, waste management and our contribution to the local community.
It’s an ongoing process, and one that helps us identify practical improvements we can make as our business grows.
We know there is always more to learn and do, and we’re committed to continuing that work.

Tourism Emissions Reduction Commitment (TERC)
Through the Tourism Emissions Reduction Commitment and CarbonHalo, we’ve measured our business emissions and gained a much clearer understanding of where they come from.
The process has helped us look beyond electricity use to consider purchasing, suppliers, waste and other aspects of running self-contained accommodation.
Having this information gives us a practical starting point for making improvements and tracking our progress over time.

Receiving positive feedback from guests is one of the most rewarding parts of running Vale 194.
We’re delighted to have received Booking.com Traveller Review Awards for three consecutive years, reflecting the experiences of guests who have booked and stayed with us.

The Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA) has been a fantastic source of professional development, industry training and guidance throughout our journey. Their support has helped us grow with confidence and continually improve what we do.
We’re also grateful to the McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association, McLaren Vale Business & Tourism Association, Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism and the McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre for helping us feel connected to our region and supported as part of its tourism community.

I’m also thrilled to have been invited to join the Wine Tourism Committee through the McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from others in our tourism industry, share ideas and contribute to conversations about how we can continue to grow and improve the visitor experience in our region.
Having grown up in McLaren Vale, and now running our own accommodation business here, it’s particularly special to be involved.
I’m really looking forward to learning more, sharing what I’ve learnt along the way and working alongside others who are just as passionate about our region.
