The MICHELIN Guide may lead you to South Australia. McLaren Vale lets you taste the food, wine and place together.
In October 2026, South Australia will become the first Australian destination featured in the MICHELIN Guide, placing the state’s dining scene firmly on the international map.
For food and wine travellers from Singapore, it is an exciting new reason to visit and McLaren Vale is where that journey can become much more than a series of restaurant bookings.

Fly directly from Singapore to South Australia
With direct flights connecting Singapore and Adelaide, a South Australian food and wine holiday is closer than you may think.
From Adelaide Airport, it is approximately a 45-minute drive to McLaren Vale, one of Australia’s best-known wine regions and an ideal place to settle in for several days.
Here, restaurants, vineyards, cellar doors and local producers are all part of the same landscape. You can meet the people behind the wines, enjoy a long lunch featuring South Australian produce and discover how closely the region’s food is connected to the place where it is grown.

Bring your favourite people
Vale 194 makes it possible to share this South Australian food and wine journey with the people you enjoy travelling with.
Choose one of five private holiday houses for up to six guests, reserve several houses for a larger group or stay across the entire gated complex with up to 30 guests.
With three full king bedrooms in every house, Vale 194 is particularly well suited to couples, friends and extended families who want to travel together without giving up their own space.

More than a dining destination
The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide will introduce more international travellers to South Australia’s exceptional dining. McLaren Vale adds another layer to that experience.
Rather than simply ordering a South Australian wine from a restaurant list, you can visit the cellar door where it was made. Meet the winemakers, explore the vineyards and learn more about the varieties for which the region is known.
The region also offers experiences you will not find in a traditional wine destination. Visit the striking d’Arenberg Cube, where wine, art and architecture come together in one of McLaren Vale’s most recognisable landmarks, with panoramic views across the surrounding vineyards.

A leisurely tasting can lead into lunch overlooking the vines. A visit to a local producer can be followed by dinner matched with McLaren Vale wines. You can also spend time in nearby Willunga, an important part of the wider McLaren Vale region and one of Australia’s great food towns. Visit the renowned Willunga Farmers Market, discover local growers and producers, and explore the town’s cafés, restaurants and historic high street.
Between bookings, there is time to wander through the McLaren Vale township, follow part of the Shiraz Trail or return to your accommodation to enjoy the wines and produce collected along the way.
This is not just dining in South Australia. It is an opportunity to experience the food, wine and region together.

Food and wine, with wildlife and the coast nearby
The Fleurieu Peninsula coastline is also within easy reach of McLaren Vale, with plenty to discover between cellar-door tastings and dining reservations.
Visit Woodstock Wine Estate to combine a wine experience with the chance to see rescued kangaroos and other native animals at its wildlife sanctuary. Then take the scenic drive towards Port Willunga, Aldinga, Moana or Sellicks Beach for a walk, coastal lunch or sunset over the gulf.
For a distinctly local experience, drive your car onto the designated sections of Aldinga or Sellicks Beach, something possible on only a small number of South Australian beaches, or explore the coastline and textensive rails by e-bike.
Food and wine may be at the centre of your stay, but McLaren Vale’s wildlife, beaches and coastal landscape add another memorable dimension to a few relaxed days in the region.

Explore McLaren Vale – and beyond
McLaren Vale is easy to explore in the way that best suits your group.
Hire a car at Adelaide Airport and enjoy the freedom to visit cellar doors, restaurants, local producers and nearby beaches at your own pace. Each Vale 194 house has an undercover carport and additional driveway parking.
Electric vehicle charging is also available at Houses 3 and 4 for guests travelling with an EV.
If everyone would prefer to enjoy the wine, book a local tour guide, private driver or group transfer and let someone else take care of the day’s journey. A guided experience can be tailored around your preferred wine styles, cellar doors, long lunches and local producers.
Vale 194 can also be used as a base for discovering more of South Australia’s wine country. Spend most of your stay exploring McLaren Vale, then add a day trip to the Adelaide Hills, Langhorne Creek or, for those happy to travel a little further, the Barossa.
Return at the end of the day to the same private McLaren Vale address, with space for everyone to relax and share their discoveries.

Stay together at Vale 194
Located in the middle of the McLaren Vale township, Vale 194 brings five private, self-contained holiday houses together within one gated complex.
Each house is designed for an independent, self-catered stay and accommodates up to six guests in three full king bedrooms. Guests have their own fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, living and dining areas, laundry facilities and an undercover outdoor barbecue area.
Contactless check-in is provided using a secure gate code and key safe, allowing guests to arrive and settle into their own private house without visiting a reception desk.
Book one house for three couples, several houses for a larger gathering of friends or family, or all five houses for up to 30 guests. It is a rare opportunity for a group to stay together at one private address while retaining the privacy and comfort of separate homes.
Restaurants, cafés and selected cellar doors are within walking distance, with the Shiraz Trail just metres away for an easy walk or bike ride through the region. McLaren Vale wineries, Fleurieu Peninsula beaches and other South Australian wine regions can also be explored by car or with a private tour.
After a day of tastings, long lunches and exploring the region, everyone can return to the same private address and continue enjoying the experience together.

Make it a three or four-night journey
McLaren Vale rewards travellers who stay a little longer.
Allow time for an unhurried cellar-door day, a memorable long lunch, a coastal drive and an evening dining in McLaren Vale or Adelaide. Staying for three or four nights also gives you the freedom to balance reservations with slower mornings, relaxed breakfasts and spontaneous discoveries.
South Australia’s first MICHELIN Guide may provide the inspiration for your journey. McLaren Vale gives you the opportunity to experience the food, wine and place at their source.
